Safe2Shop regards the privacy of visitors to its web site to be of paramount importance, and strives at all times to ensure that visitor specific data is afforded at least the level of protection indicated below

Safe2Shop is the sole owner of the information it gathers on its site. Safe2Shop will only share your information with outside parties in ways that are described in this privacy statement or if we are required to do so by law

All personal data and details concerning financial transactions are administered by affording suitable protection from hackers. All members of staff are fully aware of the implications and scope of this Policy and only access such information when necessary and with due diligence

What Information is collected and how is it used is indicated below - no information is collected without your being aware of the fact and only after you giving your consent

Safe2Shop caters for two distinct types of visitors to it web site – eCommerce Retailers (Merchants) and Internet Users / Consumers (Users) – each category will be revealing different personal / financial details in the course of their relationship with Safe2Shop – each is catered for in this Policy – as below

Users

1. Internet Users Area

Users are invited to use the Safe2Shop User Forum as a source of information regarding Approved Merchants. The User Forum contains various instances where you may wish to contact us or submit a Merchant Rating.

1.1. Participation

1.1.1. There may be instances from time to time where you are invited to participate in a special promotion, to receive our Newsletter, or take part in a survey, where we will request certain personal information, the minimum being your email address. This information will only be used for the purpose for which it was requested which will be made clear at the time.

1.1.2. Personal details remain confidential. However, the demographic data may be used from time to time in conjunction with our partners, but such data never reveals the originator (i.e. your name or email address)

1.1.3. Such communications will always carry a link, the use of which will allow you to unsubscribe from any such future communications

1.2. Safe2Shop User Ratings

1.2.1. When completing a rating of your perception of an Approved Merchants web site (or our own), you are requested to include certain personal details. These details are used by Safe2Shop to verify the validity of your rating and to ensure malicious ratings are not generated by any disruptive third parties

1.2.2. The Safe2Shop User Rating procedure can be accessed via the Safe2Shop Seal of Approval displayed on the main page of an Approved Merchant’s site or at the Safe2Shop web site

1.3. Safe2Shop Purchaser Ratings

1.3.1 On completing a rating of the quality of Customer Service experienced with an Approved Merchant on fulfilment of an order, you are requested to include certain personal and order details. These details are used by Safe2Shop to verify the validity of your rating and to ensure malicious ratings are not generated by any disruptive third parties.

1.3.2. The Safe2Shop Purchaser Rating procedure can be accessed via the Safe2Shop Seal of Approval displayed on the main page of a Merchant’s site or at the Safe2Shop web site

1.4. Information

1.4.1. Those Users who have submitted a User or Purchaser Rating are added to the listing of Safe2Shop Contributors. Contributors are kept informed of additions to the Approved Merchant listing and any removals of approval

1.4.2. From time to time communications may include Merchant specific information regarding changes to their web sites or Special Offers

1.4.3. All communications include a link, the use of which facilitates a contributor unsubscribing from any future such communications

1.5. Safe2Shop Complaints Procedure

1.5.1. Should you deem it necessary to raise a complaint via Safe2Shop regarding the adherence to the Code of Conduct by an Approved Merchant, you will be providing personal and order details.

1.5.2. Such details are revealed to the members of the Safe2Shop Independent Complaints Panel and the Merchant concerned, in the course of the Panel acting as arbitrators in finding an amicable solution – such details remain confidential however and both the Panel Members and the Merchant are bound by the requirements of this policy

1.5.3. The Safe2Shop Complaints Procedure can be accessed via the Safe2Shop Seal of Approval displayed on the main page of a Merchant’s site or at the Safe2Shop web site

4. Contact Us

4.1. When choosing to use any of the links providing the facility to contact us by email, your mail will include your email address and probably your name. This data is only used to respond to your original mail and not added to any listing

5. Verification

5.1. Where your personal details are retained, either as a Merchant or User, you will be able to verify their accuracy, and correct or modify them by emailing us at details@safe2shop.org

5.2. You can also request that they be deleted by mailing us at unsubscribe@safe2shop.org  We will always respond to such emails within 2 working days

6. Complaints

6.1. Should there be reason for you to raise a complaint regarding our services or customer service, this will inevitably involve including your personal details. Such details will only be used in the course of resolving that issue

7. Cookies and logged files

7.1. Whilst we may utilise the use of Cookies from time to time, they will not be used as a means of collecting information regarding you. They will only be used, where deemed appropriate, to record statistical information, or to leave data on your hard drive, which will make subsequent visits to our web site more user friendly. For example a cookie created on a previous visit could load the Safe2Shop main page far more quickly on a subsequent visit

7.2. We may log IP addresses and browser types for systems administration purposes. These logs will be analysed to improve the value of the materials available on the website. A user’s session may be tracked, but the user will be anonymous. We do not link IP addresses to any personally identifiable information

8. Future changes

8.1. Any future changes made to this Policy will be notified to existing Merchants and Users, who have not requested removal of their details, by email

10. Deleting Cookies

10.1. You can delete Cookies from your hard drive at any time from within Internet Explorer or Netscape. This can be achieved by right clicking on your Internet Explorer / Netscape icon on your desktop and selecting Properties. Depending on the version of Internet Explorer or Netscape you are using, you have the option to delete “Cookies” or “Temporary Internet Files” or similar terminology
