The purpose of the Safe2shop web site is to pass information to Internet Users concerning members of the Internet Merchants Federation

Due to the fact that IMF members agree to adhere to the requirements of the Code of Practice, administered and regulated by Safe2shop, and supported by independent User and Purchaser Ratings of those Merchants. Safe2shop are able to provide Users with guidance and re-assurance concerning where to shop online with safety

Safe2shop also provide an Independent Complaints Procedure for Internet users

1. Purpose

1.1. To provide Internet Users with information that can take them into their personal comfort zone, able to make informed decisions concerning where to shop online

2. Code of Practice

2.1. Safe2Shop administers and regulates the IMF Code of Practice for eCommerce Merchants which conforms to the requirements of EU Regulation xxx and the United Kingdom TrustUK Code – IMF Member Merchants have to make a clear commitment to abide by the requirements of the Code (see Code of Practice)

2.2. Safe2shop also provides an independent complaints procedure, where Users / Purchasers can raise a complaint against an IMF Member for not adhering to the requirements of good practice and the Code of Practice

2.3. The Safe2shop Independent Complaints Panel will act as arbitrators in reaching an amicable solution

2.4. Should that not be forthcoming, and the IMF Member merchant is held to be at fault, their membership of the IMF will be rescinded and they will no longer be able to display the IMF logo or Safe2shop Seal of Approval on their web site

3. Site specific

3.1. Approval is granted for one specific web site. The Approval cannot be used for more than one site, and if an attempt is made to add the Seal of Approval to a non-approved site, visitors will be warned that they are on a site not approved by Safe2Shop

4. Seal of Approval

4.1. IMF Members must display the Safe2Shop Seal of Approval on their Approved Web Site, which provides independent verification of the Merchant’s credentials. This must be included at least prior to the product pages of the site.

4.2. On mouseover the Seal opens a small window listing the Merchant’s name, approved URL, address, landline telephone number, contact email address.

4.3. On clicking the Seal a larger window is opened also reveals the current User rating of ease of use of the web site, and if a Merchant participates in the Purchaser Ratings facility that current rating will also be listed, as well as links to Safe2shop, the Code of Practice, and a complaints form

5. User rating – Ease of use

5.1. Visitors to the Merchant’s site are requested to complete a Rating Form giving their views of the ease of use of the site – this rating is available to all Users.

6. Purchaser rating – Quality of Customer Service

Visitors who make a purchase are requested to complete a Rating Form on completion of the purchase, including delivery, of the quality of Customer Service they experienced from the Merchant concerned. This rating facility is not mandatory, a Merchant chooses to participate or not. The rating of participating Merchants is available to Users via the Seal of Approval and in the User Forum on the safe2Shop web site – a high rating inevitably has a dramatic effect on a Merchant’s visitor to sales ratio

7. Independent assessment

7.1. These User and Purchaser ratings are the only independent assessment available of a Merchants performance on the Internet

7.2. Their independence and validity is ensured by the technology utilised in their collection, and the fact that they are administered by Safe2shop, totally independently of the IMF and their member merchants

8. Internet User Area – Safe Merchant Listing

8.1. IMF Merchants are listed in the safe Merchant listings by Category of products/ services on offer. Only Approved Members are listed.

8.2. However, Safe2shop cannot be held responsible for the individual Categories any merchant may appear in, as that choice is made by the Merchant, and with most companies range of products or services available being an ever changing, ensuring the Category listing is always current is virtually impossible.

9. Safe2Shop Independent Complaints Panel

9.1. Whilst any complaint concerning the fulfilment of an order would initially be made to the Merchant concerned, where this procedure fails to produce an amicable solution, Users are able to raise a complaint with the Safe2Shop Independent Complaints Panel, who will act as arbitrators in finding a resolution

10. Withdrawal of approval

10.1. Safe2Shop may withdraw a Merchant’s Approval if they are deemed to have acted in a manner contrary to the requirements of the Code of Conduct and refuse to rectify the matter

11. Limitations – Site content

11.1. Approval is open to all web sites, apart from “Adult Only” or “Gaming” sites, or any sites deemed to be promoting unacceptable material. Those sites promoting material to children of 16 years or under will only be approved if it is made clear that NO purchases can be made without complete parental approval and authority

12. Limitations - Geographical

12.1. There are no geographical limits to the location of an Approved Merchant. Whilst the Code of is based on an EU Regulation, the requirements are rapidly becoming global standards. Users the world over seek the same verification of the integrity of eCommerce Merchants

13. Limitations – Liability

13.1. Safe2shop uses its best endeavours at all times, to ensure that all information provided is accurate and current.

13.2 Safe2shop cannot accept responsibility for User actions taken as a result of that information, other than in the case of the verification of IMF Member site credentials

13.4 In the case of verification of site credentials, Safe2shop has a $1,000 indemnity to cover any loss incurred up to that value, as a result of the verification beingbeing wrong or displayed in error

14. Cookies

14.1. Safe2shop utilises cookies to assist in the operation of its site. They are however only session cookies, which are automatically deleted when you close your internet browser.
